Mark Hubbard of Pinehurst Country Club achieved a rare feat Friday by defeating Will Logsdon of Hiwan Golf Club 4 and 2 to win the 57th Colorado Golf Association Junior Match Play championship at Wellshire Golf Course.

Hubbard became the fourth player to win both the CGA Junior Match Play championship and the Junior Stroke Play title in the same year.

Hubbard pulled away from Logsdon during the last half of the 36-hole final. He birdied three of four holes from Nos. 11-14 for a three-hole advantage.

Logsdon, who carded three birdies on the first 18, took a one-hole lead into the second round. But Logsdon three-putted on No. 16 on the final 18 for bogey to decide the match.

Hubbard, a recent graduate of Colorado Academy who will attend San Jose State University, joins a select list of past CGA Junior Match Play champions, including Hale Irwin, Davis Love III, Brandt Jobe, Kent Moore and Larry Webb.

Logsdon, a recent graduate of Evergreen High School, will play at Hastings (Neb.) College next season.
