WESTCLIFFE, Colo.—A Custer County man is the fourth person to die of hantavirus this year, but officials suspect he contracted the disease elsewhere.

The victim was identified as Fred Sharp, 66, of Silver Cliff Ranch, a camp and retreat near Westcliffe.

Hantavirus is carried by deer mice and the disease is transmitted through contact with their urine or feces.
