ALPINE, Colo.—Chaffee County sheriff’s officials were evacuating residents after heavy rains led to a mudslide in the mountains Saturday.
The National Weather Service said severe slides covered part of County Roads 162 and 292, near Alpine. Forecasters issued a flash flood warning through 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
A sheriff’s official who declined to give her name would not say how many homes were being evacuated.
