Law enforcement officials seized 16 cars and arrested 11 people in an undercover street-racing sting in the 5000 block of Fox Street, near the Denver/Adams County border.

The operation late Sunday was the culmination of a weeks-long surveillance, prompted by residents’ complaints, of illegal street racing.

Police also cited 35 juveniles for curfew violations and three people for traffic warrants, authorities said.

The joint operation between Denver police and Adams County sheriff’s deputies began at 11 p.m. and ended at midnight, Denver police Detective John White said in a statement.

“Officers from both jurisdictions received information from concerned citizens that racing was taking place at this location,” he said, “along with other types of illegal activity such as vandalism and underage drinking.”
