A man found dead outside as a real-estate agent was showing a house to a potential buyer had been murdered, officials say.
The body was found beside the home on the 8400 block of Scenic Drive at about 4 p.m. Monday, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
An injury to the body indicated to investigators that the death was the result of foul play, Kelley said.
“They don’t believe it was an accident,” she said.
Because of the condition of the decomposed body, investigators believe that it had been there for some time, she said.
Investigators have not been able to identify the body or give an estimate of the victim’s age, Kelley said. There was no identifying documents found with the body, she said.
“We’re at a loss to who he was,” Kelley said.
The victim is described as an adult male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, medium build and with a long black ponytail. The man was wearing newer bluejeans, a grey T-shirt with the word “DECA” on the left breast and brown work shoes.
