Jefferson County – A man found dead outside a house as a real-estate agent was showing the home to a potential buyer had been murdered, officials say.
The body was found beside the home in the 8400 block of Scenic Drive about 4 p.m. Monday, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
An injury to the body indicated to investigators that the death was the result of foul play, Kelley said.
Because of the condition of the decomposed body, investigators believe that it had been there for some time, she said.
The victim is described as an adult male, 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10, with a medium build and a long, black ponytail. The man was wearing newer bluejeans, a gray T-shirt with the word “DECA” on the left breast and brown work shoes.

Bronco-slaying figure indicted in drug case
A federal grand jury formally indicted Willie DeWayne Clark on Monday, charging him with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine along with nine other defendants who have already been indicted, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday.
Clark, 24, is under investigation in the fatal drive-by shooting of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams, according to court records. But Clark has not been charged or arrested in connection with Williams’ homicide.
The drug indictment is considered a formality because federal prosecutors have already filed a complaint against Clark for dealing crack-cocaine along with several members of a Denver street gang.

Fire caused by child playing with lighter
A 4-year-old boy used a lighter to start a fire that gutted his family’s home in Northglenn, officials say.
The fire at 1069 Dean Drive started at 4:30 p.m. Monday, said Wendy Forbes, spokeswoman for North Metro Fire Rescue.
The renters of the home escaped without injury, Forbes said.
The child was playing in a bedroom when he lit clothing with a lighter. The fire spread quickly.
Twenty firefighters worked on the blaze, which fully engulfed the main floor of the home.
The damage is estimated at $167,000, Forbes said.

Xcel customers set record for power use
Xcel’s Colorado customers used more power Tuesday than at any other time in its history, a spokesman said.
Customers used a record-setting 6,946 megawatts as temperatures climbed into the mid-90s during the afternoon and Coloradans cranked up their air conditioners, said spokesman Tom Henley.
There were no outages or other problems related to the high usage, Henley said.
The company broke a record that was set just one day before, he said. It was at least the third time this month the company has broken its all-time usage record.
