Looking ahead to his second term, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper said Denver will implement a new housing plan, launch a youth initiative that includes after-school programs and build a luxury hotel at Denver International Airport.
Delivering his annual State of the City address to the Denver Chamber of Commerce today, the Mayor also looked back on the accomplishments of his first term and touted his plan for a bond and tax increase voters will see this November.
He asked the chamber and citizens to “invest together in the common good” and said the bond “sends a message about who we are and who we are to become.”
Voters in November will be asked to approve a $550 million bond package and a $27 million tax increase to pay for citywide infrastructure improvements.
Hickenlooper was overwhelmingly elected to a second term in June.
