The Nuggets will face Greg Oden and the Portland Trail Blazers twice in the preseason, on Oct. 12 in Boulder and Oct. 26 in Redmond, Ore., according to a release from the Blazers. The rest of the Nuggets’ preseason schedule includes Chauncey Billups and the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 14 in Detroit and Oct. 17 in Grand Rapids, Mich.; the Milwaukee Bucks in Green Bay, Wis., on Oct. 16; and the Los Angeles Clippers at the Pepsi Center on Oct. 9.

14ers join Southwest Division in new season

The Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League will open their season Nov. 23 when the team hosts the Anaheim Arsenal at the Broomfield Event Center.

The 14ers will be part of the newly formed Southwest Division after the league realigned with an expansion to 14 teams. Colorado will face Albuquerque, Austin, Rio Grande Valley and Tulsa in its division.

Colorado College signs Ralph as AD

Colorado College hired Rensselaer Polytechnic’s Ken Ralph as athletic director Tuesday. Ralph had been athletic director at the Troy, N.Y., school since July 2002.

He replaces Julie Soriero, who left the college this summer to become athletic director at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Former prep champ secures Stroke Play lead

Ashley Tait of Raccoon Creek Golf Club, a three-time Colorado prep champion, took the first-round lead at the Colorado Women’s Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Green Gables Country Club. Tait birdied five holes to finish at 68. She is five strokes ahead of Emma Bennett of Kingston Heath Golf Club.
