Xcel’s Colorado customers used more power Tuesday than at any other time in its history, a spokesman said.
The company unloaded a record-setting 6,946 megawatts as temperatures climbed into the mid-90s during the afternoon and Colorado customers cranked up their air conditioners, said spokesman Tom Henley.
There were no outages or other problems related to the high usage, Henley said.
The company broke a record that was set just one day before, he said. It was at least the third time this month the company has broken its all-time usage record.
