A man wanted for a relatively minor problem with the law dug himself in deeper early Wednesday morning when he barricaded himself in his house.
Daniel Wistrand, 49, of Wheat Ridge, had a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear on a DUI charge in Boulder, according to authorities.
Wheat Ridge police went to his house in the 2700 block of Fenton Street around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, to arrest him. Wistrand was in the back yard with his wife and two adult friends, with a three-and-a-half year old child sleeping inside the house. Wistrand locked himself inside the home while the other adults stayed in the back yard.
When telephone and bullhorn negotiations failed, the SWAT team was brought out. Police used a reverse 911 call to alert residents of the police action.
The SWAT team entered Wistrand’s house at 1:30 a.m., and arrested him. He was given stitches for a cut on his head, then transported to the Jefferson County jail, said spokesperson Lisa Stigall.
