Huffer is ousted at Girls Junior Amateur

Littleton High School alumna Becca Huffer was eliminated Wednesday at the U.S. Girls Junior Championship at Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash., losing 2-up to Stacey Kim of Columbus, Ga.

Bennett takes lead at CWGA Stroke Play

Emma Bennett of Melbourne, Australia, recorded five birdies on her way to a second-round, 1-under-par 71 on Wednesday to take the lead at the Colorado Women’s Golf Association Stroke Play championship at Green Gables Country Club in Lakewood.

Bennett’s even-par 144 total has her two strokes ahead of Ashley Tait of Raccoon Creek Golf Course.

Two Coloradans to ride at Worlds

USA Cycling named Taylor Phinney of Boulder and Daniel Summerhill of Centennial to the United States roster for the UCI junior road and track world championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Aug. 4-12.

Phinney and Summerhill are half of the four-man road race team. Phinney will also compete in the time trial.
