GREEN UP: Feel like it’s way past time to pitch in toward a healthier planet but unsure where to start? The EarthWorks Expo, Friday through Sunday at the Denver Merchandise Mart, promises exhibitors, speakers and workshops on the topics of renewable energy, green transportation, green building, sustainable agriculture, resource conservation and grassroots food and energy production. DIVE IN: Colorado’s steamy summer weather has lots of people dreaming of bikinis and beach towels. Take that fantasy one step further on Wednesday when the Arizona company We Fix Ugly Pools attempts to set a world record by excavating a backyard and building a swimmable pool in less than a day. Taking bets on its success? Surf over to world and watch the action unfold.
ORGANIC AND ARTFUL: In addition to hosting more than 20 farmers from around the state, Saturday’s Longmont Farmers Market also will include a Fine Art and Fine Crafts Fair, with artists selling everything from stained glass to hand-spun yarn. The market and concurrent fair are located at the Boulder County Fairgrounds (Hover Road at Boston Avenue in Longmont). They run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, as well as Aug. 25 and Sept. 29.
