The Winner: Andrea Leslie, Idaho Springs

We visited this train many times during our visits to Colorado from our home in California. Now we live in Idaho Springs, and in its permanent spot between City Hall and the highway across from the water wheel, it has become an old friend. This first picture was taken in 1990 and shows my husband, Willie, and son Scott, age 1. Scott is now 17. I snapped the second photo yesterday. Willie, like the train, hasn’t changed a bit!

The finer points: Ryan Shofner, Littleton

No. 60 sits in Harold A. Anderson Park. It is a narrow gauge 2-8-0 consolidation-type locomotive. She sits on the old C&S mainline, where she was retired in 1941 (the tracks were pulled up from in front and behind her), and behind her is one of the last remaining C&S coaches.
