A woman called the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Friday night to report she had just shot her husband, officials say.
April McCorkle, 43, was arrested for investigation of first-degree assault for shooting Robert McCorkle, 48, in the stomach with a handgun, said Cmdr. Phil West, spokesman for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
McCorkle called the sheriff’s office at 8:48 p.m. from her home on the 1200 block of Camp Eden Road near Wondervu.
Officers from Boulder and Gilpin county sheriff’s offices and the Nederland Police Department responded, West said.
Robert McCorkle had been shot in the lower abdomen and the bullet had gone completely through his body, he said.
Officials found the gun at the home and arrested Mrs. McCorkle, West said.
Mr. McCorkle was listed in serious but stable condition at St. Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver. He underwent surgery Friday night, West said.
Sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate what caused the confrontation, he said.
