Devin McWilliams, a backup defensive lineman at Colorado State, spent Sunday and most of Monday in jail after being arrested early Sunday morning by Fort Collins police.

According to 9News, McWilliams was arrested outside a house party about 12:40 a.m. after getting out of a car, which was parked in the middle of the street, carrying what police believed was a rifle. It was later determined to be a pellet gun.

McWilliams, who turns 21 today , was arrested for disorderly conduct as well as the prohibited use of a firearm. Both are misdemeanors.

Coach Sonny Lubick said Monday he had talked to witnesses who were at the scene.

“I’ll do the right thing,” Lubick said, reserving judgment until he talks to McWilliams and police officers. Lubick described McWilliams as a “scout team” player.
