Broomfield police have arrested a man accused of torching golf and food carts at Eagle Trace Golf Course.
A course manager discovered the vehicles on fire early Monday when he showed up for work. The vehicles were all within a fenced storage area near the maintenance building.
Fire investigators found a can with an unknown accelerant in it and a bag containing numerous fireworks, police said. Officers also contacted a man who was in the area.
In talking with the man, 18-year-old Nicholas Becker, police said officers discovered that Becker had the same type of fireworks found earlier and that he admitted to being on the golf course earlier.
Becker was arrested on suspicion of second-degree arson. He posted bail and was released from the Broomfield jail.
The fire damaged three golf carts and two food carts, with one food cart and golf cart each being a total loss. Those two carts have a combined value of $32,000, police said.
