VAIL, Colo.—Authorities in Eagle County say they’ve located a hiker who became lost in the Mount of the Holy Cross area.
Now, rescue crews are trying to reach the 31-year-old woman and bring her to safety.
Sheriff’s Sergeant Alex Iacovetto says the woman started her hike about 8 a.m. Monday, but called 911 around 5:30 p.m., saying she was lost on Half Moon Trail, which leads to the summit of the mountain.
Rescuers found Emily Thompson, 31, in a boulder field, authorities said.
It took rescuers several hours to hike down with Thompson because she was dehydrated, said Deputy Tim Comroe of the Eagle County Sheriffs Office.
