FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Colorado State basketball recruit was under investigation over allegations of identity theft and theft, Denver media outlets reported.

Stephen Franklin, an all-state guard-forward who led Aurora Central to the Class 5A state title game this year, is scheduled to start classes as a freshman this fall on a full-ride athletic scholarship.

Police said Franklin and another man were accused of stealing two wallets two weeks ago, KCNC-TV reported. Franklin was accused of using a stolen debit card three times to buy food and gas totaling less than $50, the station reported.

A warrant was issued for Franklin’s arrest, but he was not immediately taken into custody, KCNC-TV and The Denver Post reported.

Police did not immediately return a phone message Tuesday night from The Associated Press.

Prosecutors were reviewing whether charges should be filed.
