Authorities are investigating decomposing remains found in the car of a 55-year-old Kansas woman reported missing last week.
Sherri Malleck’s car was found yesterday at a Fountain, Colorado truck stop, about 15 miles south of Colorado Springs.
Law enforcement officials say passersby made the discovery.
Fountain police said today that the initial investigation indicated the woman died of natural causes.
Fountain police and the El Paso County Coroner’s office declined to identify the body as that of Malleck while dental records and fingerprints are examined.
Malleck was reported missing Wednesday to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office.
A search of Malleck’s home has turned up no clues as to her whereabouts.
