A 4-year-old fell from an upstairs bedroom window while playing without supervision in a Broomfield home on Tuesday, according to North Metro Fire Rescue.
Just before 4:30 p.m., a rescue crew arrived at the home in the 12900 block of Grove Way. They were told the child had been playing near a low window, accidentally pushed out the screen of the open window and fell about 10 feet, landing on dirt.
His father was home but not in the room, said North Metro spokeswoman Wendy Forbes.
“Unfortunately, due to the way the house was designed, the windows were just low,” Forbes said.
The boy was assessed at the home and taken to Avista Adventist Hospital as a precaution.
North Metro launched an awareness program in April to protect children from falls from windows. For more information, visit or call 303-252-3017 for an information packet.
