A Castle Rock man committed suicide Tuesday by decapitation when he tied a cable around his neck and drove away.
Police confirmed it was a suicide when they found a suicide note in the 57-year-old man’s apartment. They are not releasing his identity until they can contact family members.
The incident took place on the west side of town, off of Meadows Parkway near the Stadium 12 movie complex. A manager said no one saw the grisly scene. It happened sometime before 2 p.m., when no one was milling around outside the theaters.
The man was found by a construction worker who had parked his car in the theater parking lot. He noticed the body and telephoned police at 2 p.m.
Town spokesperson Karen McGrath said the man had tied a cable to a concrete pillar, then around his neck. His car came to a stop in the field next to the theater.
