Vintage photographs, sugar skulls, wryly comic skeleton sculptures and other objects escort visitors through a visual tour of mourning in this new exhibit. Visitors encounter the improvised roadside memorials, called descansos, and witness cultural extremes, from Victorian severity to festive Day of the Dead customs.

Admission to all 41 state parks is waived Monday in honor of the anniversary commemorating Colorado’s addition to the Union. (Camping and other fees apply.) And beat this fall’s looming fee increase by buying daily or annual passes now to avoid the $1 to $10 fee increase that begins in September.
