The man who died when he smashed his motorcycle into a car Sunday at East Mississippi Avenue and South Blackhawk Street has been identified as 38-year-old Edmund Myers of Aurora.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, which involved a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle and a 1994 Oldsmobile. Police suspect excessive speed contributed to the crash.
The driver of the car, 24-year-old Francisca Garcia, was injured and taken to an area hospital, police said. Her condition wasn’t immediately available.
Witnesses told investigators Myers rode alongside two other motorcyclists, popping wheelies and speeding about a mile and a half before colliding with the sedan, Aurora police Sgt. William Revelle said.
