DENVER—Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc. said Monday it filled a record 88.5 percent of its aircraft in July as the summer’s heavy travel season got into full swing.

The low-cost carrier reported 1.06 million passengers in July, up 16.3 percent from July 2006. Its available seat-miles rose 14.1 percent and revenue passenger miles increased 18.5 percent in a year-over-year comparison.

The load factor of 88.5 percent—a measure of how many seats on each aircraft are filled—was up 3.3 percentage points from July 2006 and was the highest in the company’s history, Frontier said.

The results were released just days after Chief Executive Officer Jeff Potter said he will resign in September. A search is under way for his replacement.

Exclusive Resorts announced Monday that Potter would become its CEO.

Frontier’s stock fell 18 cents to $8.39 a share in midday trading.

Based in Denver, Frontier offers service from Denver International Airport to 30 states, Mexico and Canada.
