From The Spice Hunter, serves 6-8.
Ingredients
1 pound ground turkey or beef
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon salt
Pepper to taste
1 egg
2 quarts chicken stock
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 zucchini, sliced
Directions
Mix ground meat with the spices and egg. Shape into 1-inch balls and refrigerate until ready to use.
Bring stock to a boil in a large pot and add the meatballs, one at a time. Simmer 10 minutes. Add carrots, potato and zucchini and continue to simmer until meatballs and vegetables are cooked through, 10-15 minutes longer. Garnish with sour cream, salsa and chopped green onions.
