The man who was killed in a runway accident Monday morning has been identified as a 46-year-old man from Beaver Falls, Pa., according to a police report.
Robert Lee Genzler was cleaning rubber off a runway when he was struck and killed Monday at about 5 a.m. by a high-powered runway-scrubbing machine, according Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.
Genzler was apparently bent over to retrieve an item and could not be seen by the operator of the heavy equipment, Jackson said.
Genzler was an employee of Rampart Hydro Services of Coraopolis, Pa.
He was married and had three children, including a son who is a U.S. Army soldier serving in Iraq, according a company news release. He also had a grandson.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been contacted and will be conducting an independent review of the accident, Jackson said.
