DENVER—Authorities have identified the contract worker killed while cleaning a Denver International Airport runway as Robert L. Genzler of Beaver Falls, Pa.
Police say the 46-year-old Genzler was cleaning aircraft tire marks from the concrete on Monday when he was struck by a massive sweeping machine.
Authorities say Genzler apparently bent over to pick something up and the sweeper operator did not see him.
Genzler worked for Rampart Hydro Services based in Coraopolis, Pa. The sweeper operator worked for DIA.
Denver police and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
