Getting your player ready...

You know, this Shanahan guy must know his stuff.

But don’t take my word for it. Check out the sidelines at Camp Shanny, where you never know what coach might show up to pick Mike Shanahah’s brain.

Dan Hawkins showed up last week. Soon thereafter, coaches from the British Columbia Lions, Hamilton Tiger Cats, Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders arrived, clipboards and legal pads in hand.

Nothing out of the ordinary there. Shanahan’s 13 training camps in Denver have provided a who’s who of big-name coaches, all of whom share a common denominator: They want to see first-hand how Shanahan has become one of the greatest offensive coaches in NFL history.

Bob Stoops showed up last year. So did Sonny Lubick. The list of campers through the Shanahan years also includes Mack Brown, Larry Coker, Butch Davis, Fisher DeBerry and Gary Barnett, just to name a few.

Oh, and, of course, the late Jack Neumeier. Don’t recognize the name? All Neumeier did was invent the West Coast offense. He ran it in the ’70s at Granada Hills High School in Southern California when his young quarterback was named John Elway. The kid hurt his knee in high school, but, this just in, wound up doing all right for himself.

Jim Armstrong issues regular reports from training camp throughout the day along with video takes from the sidelines and snippets where fans get to do the talking. Visit .
