James Crowe, chief executive officer of Level 3 Communications Inc., said he will undergo surgery for a tumor of the pituitary gland that is likely benign.
Crowe said in a statement on PRNewswire today that he will work until the time of his surgery at the end of August, and his recovery period will be two to three weeks.
Kevin O’Hara is president and chief operating officer of Level 3 Communications, a long-distance phone and data network operator based in Broomfield, Colorado. The company reported last month its second-quarter loss expanded to $202 million, or 13 cents a share, from $201 million, or 23 cents, a year earlier, as sales rose 26 percent to $1.05 billion.
Shares rose 24 cents to $4.84 as of 10:49 a.m. New York time in Nasdaq Stock Market composite trading. They have fallen 11 percent so far this year, before today.
