Ted Koppel has slashed the price of his suburban home outside of Washington, D.C., according to The New York Post’s Braden Keil. The retired “Nightline” anchor is reportedly asking $2.3 million for his 9,000- square-foot property in Potomac, Md., after first listing the place for $4.1 million two years ago. The six-bedroom house on 2.5 acres includes an indoor pool, full gym, housekeeper’s quarters and a barn. Koppel now lives in an even bigger place a few miles away.

Tommy Lee reportedly impressed Rod Stewart enough to gain consent to date the “Infatuation” rocker’s daughter, Kimberley Stewart, by hiring a helicoptor to land in the garden behind Stewart’s Los Angeles mansion. According to The San Francisco Chronicle, Stewart gave Kimberley his blessing after Tommy Lee, 44, hatched the high-flying date idea. The chopper attempted to land on Stewart’s property but authorities chased it away. Still, Stewart was impressed. “I’ve tried some maneuvers in my time to pursue a woman,” he said, “but I’ve got to admit this is a pretty strong move.”

Hotel mogul Robert Burns is renting an oceanfront Southampton home for a record $1.2 million for the year, according to The New York Post. Burns recently signed on the dotted line to lease developer Janna Bullock’s contemporary 6,400-square-foot Norman Jaffe-designed residence on Meadow Lane. The property includes pricey works of art from Peter Beard, Andy Warhol, Vanessa Beecroft, Matthew Ritchie, David Salle and others. The Post reports that Burns, who founded Regent International Hotels in the 1970s before selling the chain to Four Seasons Hotels in 1992, is planning to build a large beachfront home just down Meadow Lane and may actually extend his lease until the mansion is completed. Burns recently sold a sprawling 15-room Manhattan apartment for a reported $29 million.
