Motorists can expect multiple lane closures on southbound Interstate 25 near 58th Avenue starting at 9 p.m. today, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The exit lane will remain open, but CDOT said it anticipates the work zone will cause major delays. Alternative routes are suggested.

The lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Friday.

Additional closures next week on north- and southbound I-25 between the area of 48th Avenue and U.S. 36 also can be expected, said CDOT spokeswoman Mindy Crane.

Two lanes north- and southbound on Interstate 225 between Sixth and Colfax avenues will be closed at 9 p.m. Friday until Saturday morning.

The lanes on both highways are being closed for preventative maintenance, Crane said. Crews are replacing 60 concrete panels on I-25 and 40 on I-225.

The maintenance project will continue until October.
