The death of an 85-year-old Fort Collins man killed when his car was hit by a train Sunday has been ruled an accident by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
William J. Lofink died of multiple trauma, Diane Fairman, chief deputy coroner, reported today.
The accident occurred at Horsetooth Road and McClelland Drive just after 3 p.m.
Police are investigating how Lofink was able to drive onto the track, which has a railroad crossing gate that is supposed to come down when a train is approaching.
