Fairplay — A man charged with killing a 24-year-old woman in a remote part of Park County has decided to be his own lawyer.
District Attorney Molly Chilson says Robert R. Amos got permission from a judge today to represent himself.
Amos, also known as Dennis Lee Cook, is charged with first-degree murder in the June 26 death of Alyssa Heberton-Morimoto in an isolated part of the San Isabel National Forest southwest of Denver.
The intern with the Colorado Geological Survey was strangled to death.
Chilson says an attorney will be appointed to advise Amos.
Amos is scheduled to enter a plea on Oct. 5.
