Cleveland – Fausto Carmona struck out a career-high 10 and finally got his 14th win as the Cleveland Indians regained a share of the AL Central lead with Detroit by beating the Tigers 5-2 on Wednesday night to split a two-game series.

Carmona (14-7) allowed one earned run and four hits in eight innings. He snapped a personal three-game losing streak, a skid during which the slumping Indians scored just two runs. But staked to an early 3-1 lead, Carmona unleashed his filthy breaking pitches on the Tigers, retiring 13-of-14 in one stretch, and picked up his first win since beating Boston 1-0 on July 25.

ORIOLES 6, YANKEES 3 (10) at New York: Miguel Tejada hit a tiebreaking double off suddenly struggling Mariano Rivera in the 10th inning, and Aubrey Huff added a two-run homer to lead Baltimore.

Shelley Duncan’s three-run homer with two outs in the ninth sent the game to extra innings, but the Orioles bounced back quickly against Rivera (3-4), who blew a save in New York’s 7-6 win in the series opener Monday night.

DEVIL RAYS 6, RED SOX 5 at Boston: Carlos Peña drove in three runs and Al Reyes struck out Manny Ramirez with two runners on for the final out and his 18th save as Tampa Bay stopped a three-game slide.

TWINS 6, MARINERS 1 at Seattle: Torii Hunter hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning and a grand slam in the ninth.

BLUE JAYS 2, ANGELS 1 at Toronto: Shaun Marcum (10-4) won his fifth straight start, Alex Rios had three hits and Toronto won for the 11th time in 13 home games.
