FORT CARSON, Colo.—A fourth member of the elite Green Berets based at Fort Carson has died in Iraq.

The Defense Department reports that Staff Sgt. Robert R. Pirelli, 29, of Franklin, Mass., died Wednesday when his patrol came under small arms fire in Diyala province.

The Gazette reports Pirelli had been with the Army since 2003 and was stationed at Fort Carson since June 2006. He was on his first deployment in Iraq.

Pirelli was an engineer sergeant assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group. He is the 220th Fort Carson soldier to die in Iraq.
