Not even the strictest grammarian can deny that this cinema marquee genuinely is Unique.
Earlier this month, the Art Deco marquee and the Salida theater nee opera house it heralded were scheduled for demolition.
Instead, the sign was rescued by Lawrence David Foldes, founder and executive director of the Independence Film Festival of Colorado.
Foldes has arranged to hang the 25-foot sign, after it gets polished, near the Pearl Theater in Buena Vista. The relocated Unique marquee will proclaim Buena Vista “Home of the Independence Film Festival,” which debuts Sept. 5 through 9 in Leadville and Buena Vista. For more, go online to
