Getting your player ready...

James Hermsen’s commitment to a hinge-free universe is starting small. Never mind the doors. Forget the cabinets, too. The founder of Spokiz (pronounced “spoke eyes”) wants to remove the hinges from your head. And he has the patent to prove it. Invented accidentally four years ago when Hermsen broke his eyeglasses 50 miles from anywhere, Spokiz are now a refined amalgamation of a bicycle spoke nipple attached to heavy-duty monofilament dressed up and stretched to the shape of your skull. This new breed of eyewear relieves stem pressure from your ears and won’t fall off your face even if you’re upside down in a river. Think of them as permanent leashes for your specs, but with unlimited fashion options. After developing a diehard loyalty among glasses wearers pursuing an active lifestyle, Spokiz recently developed a prototype for its own model of sunglasses scheduled to come out this fall. Meanwhile, Hermsen is on a mission to remove the hinges from as many glasses as he can and replace them with his patented hinge-less headgear for a mere $39 apiece.
