MAYBELL, Colo.—Firefighters are battling a 3,500-acre wildfire in northwestern Colorado.
The fire is eight miles west of Maybell. It burned through the night on pinon-juniper and grass because of strong winds, briefly closing U.S. Highway 40 as the fire crossed the road.
The Bureau of Land Management is fighting the fire, which is about 170 miles northwest of Denver.
