Getting your player ready...

John Elway was once again denied the company of another Broncos player in Canton, Ohio, after the NFL Veterans Committee chose not to nominate legendary running back Floyd Little for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Little was not one of the two finalists among senior candidates, it was announced today.

Instead, the committee chose Emmitt Thomas, a defensive back for Kansas City in the ’60s and ’70s, and Marshall Goldberg, a two-way player for the Chicago Cardinals in the 1940s. Thomas and Goldberg join 15 finalists who will be considered for enshrinement in February.

In recent years, two senior committee nominees have been voted into the Hall of Fame.

Little, who played for the Broncos from 1967-75, will have to wait until the senior committee votes again next August.

Elway is the Broncos’ only member of the Hall of Fame. Tackle Gary Zimmerman was a finalist four times, including the past two years, and has a strong chance to be a finalist again in 2008.
