DES MOINES, Iowa—The Powerball jackpot was expected to increase to an estimated $300 million for Saturday since no one matched all six of the numbers in the midweek drawing, the Multi-State Lottery Association said.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 12, 37, 40, 48 and 50. The Powerball was 37 and the multiplier was 4.
Players matching all five numbers and the Powerball would have won or shared the $252.1 million jackpot.
Two Power Play tickets purchased in Montana and North Carolina matched the first five numbers only to win $800,000.
Another 12 tickets without the Power Play option also matched five numbers to win $200,000 each. Colorado, Idaho and West Virginia each sold one, Pennsylvania sold two, North Carolina had three and Arizona sold four.
Powerball was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001.
It’s now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
