Beer and chili festival

Get into the spirit of autumn with Mount Crested Butte’s annual “Fall Festival of Beers and Chili Cook-Off” at the ski area’s new base village, Mountaineer Square. Sample chili prepared by area cook-off contestants and beers from Colorado microbreweries from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 9. Admission is $10 for chili only, $15 for beer only and $20 for both. Admission includes unlimited “tasting samples” and six full-size beers. Transportation is provided to and from Crested Butte to the base area, and a shuttle will take guests to and from Gunnison. A Taste of the Bay Area

San Francisco-area chefs bring the taste of the Bay Area to Beaver Creek during the new Beaver Creek Wine and Spirits Festival Sept. 13-15. San Francisco-area celebrity chefs and winners of the San Francisco International Wine Competition and San Francisco World Spirits Competition will pair food, wine and spirits with guided outdoor adventures in Beaver Creek. Participating chefs include Hubert Keller of Fleur de Lys, Richard Sandoval of Modern Mexican Restaurants and Joseph Manzare of Zuppa. Tickets to the festival are on sale at 970-845-TIXS.
