SOAK IT UP
Cottonwood Hot Springs Inn & Spa

Less crowded and far less glitzy than the Glenwood Springs and Pagosa Springs resorts, this modest retreat 5 miles west of Buena Vista is a throwback to the way Colorado hot springs retreats used to be. The pools offer varying temperatures that tend to feel too hot, too cool and just right for the various bears in your family.

COFFEE TALK
Tucan Coffee Roastery Tours
239 S. Main St., Palisade
970-464-7675
The Western Slope hamlet of Palisade is better known for peaches and wine than for its java, but Chris Millensted wants to change that. A native of Kent, England, Millensted has grown coffee in Honduras since the 1960s. After witnessing the enthusiasm for vineyard tasting tours, he began offering a coffee version, conducting most tours himself. Millensted encourages tour participants to help roast a fresh batch of coffee, and then enjoy a cup of joe that’s country-fresh, like the morning after a rainstorm.
