Air Force Academy — Air Force coach Troy Calhoun made one change today in his starting lineup from last week as the Falcons entered their final week of preparations for Saturday’s noon opener against South Carolina State at Falcon Stadium.
Sophomore Nick Charles regained the starting call at left guard, with sophomore Peter Lusk moving into the backup position. Charles, at 6-foot-4, 285 pounds from San Antonio, Tex., played in the final nine games last season and started six.
Calhoun had predicted throughout pre-season practice that a number of freshmen would be playing this season. Five were listed on the two-deep roster announced Monday, including left tackle Matt Markling from Cleveland, Ohio; tailback Savier Stephens from Jacksonville, Fla.; linebackers Andre Morris from Newman, Ga., and Ken Lamendola from Westlake, Ohio; and cornerback Reggie Rembert from Flower Mound, Tex.
Calhoun also listed sophomore Chris Campbell as the backup at right tackle and senior Ryan Williams the backup at fullback, although both Campbell and Williams have been injured and both could miss the early part of the season.
