GOLDEN, Colo.—Vincent “Don Vito” Margera, uncle of MTV’s “Viva La Bam” star Bam Margera, now faces 12 felony counts of violating his bail conditions in addition to charges of fondling three young girls.
Margera, 50, was arrested August 2006 in the Denver suburb of Lakewood on three felony counts of sexual assault on a child. If convicted of those counts, Margera could face a sentence ranging from probation to six years in prison.
Prosecutors announced the bail-violation charges Monday, but no details were released and district attorney’s spokeswoman Pam Russell declined comment.
Margera is accused of touching or grabbing the buttocks of a 12-year-old girl and the breasts of two other girls, ages 12 and 14. He pleaded not guilty and is free on a $50,000 bond, which allowed him to return to his hometown of West Chester, Pa.
Conditions of his bail included having no contact with children under 18, consuming no drugs or alcohol and providing detailed information on business travel plans.
A hearing on the bail-violation charges has been scheduled for Sept. 5. If convicted, of those counts, Margera could be sentenced to up to 18 months in prison.
His trial on sexual assault, which had been scheduled to begin Monday, has been rescheduled for Oct. 22.
