
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were among the guests helping raise funds for the rebuilding of New Orleans at a high-profile dinner party in the Hamptons on Saturday night, hosted by Tribeca Film Festival honcho Jane Rosenthal. According to E! Online, dishes (besides Jolie and Pitt) included crab cakes, salmon, lamb, lemon pound cake and grilled peaches.
Pop-star-du-jour Rihanna, whose ubiquitous “Umbrella” was this summer’s biggest hit, is living the high life on the road, but all that caviar and foie gras can’t compete with her favorite down-home treats: grub from Chefette, a restaurant chain in her native Barbados. “I really miss their chicken and roti (curry wrap),” the singer lamented to New York Daily News. “Oh, I miss that so much.”
Dunkin’ Donuts hopped on the health bus this week, joining other high-profile chains in banning trans-fats from their doughnuts. After testing more than 28 alternative oils, Dunkin’ Donuts found a formula for trans-fat-free doughnuts and promises to ban the artery-clogging fats by Oct. 15. Baskin-Robbins, also part of the Dunkin’ empire, will also be trans-fat-free by Jan. 1.
Not everyone knows that model/actress Devon Aoki, whose latest flick, “War,” came in at No. 5 in last weekend’s box office, is the daughter of Benihana founder Rocky Aoki. She told OK! Magazine, “I was basically raised in Benihana. I had every birthday party since I was 2 at Benihana.” But does she continue to live off the Benihaha fortune? Nope, she says. “I’ve been emancipated from my father since I was 14 years old.”
