A rescue operation by the Sheridan Fire Department and the Littleton Fire Department dive team was successful this afternoon in a dangerous section of the South Platte River.

The rescue took place near West Union Avenue and South Santa Fe Drive, in an area of the river known as the chutes.

A woman who had been tubing was stuck on a sand bar surrounded by swift running water.

Rescue teams were called out today at about 1:30 p.m.

Roland Seno with Littleton Fire said the rescue was complete and that woman is OK.
