Getting your player ready...

It is no surprise that the mighty Metropolitan League remains the deepest and most talented in the classification. What’s new this season is that only four – yes, four – of those teams will qualify for the playoffs. If you can’t beat ’em, just don’t let ’em in. That will benefit the public schools and the not-so-public schools in Colorado Springs and elsewhere. Colorado Academy junior Alex Gunberg, arguably the best player in the classification, gives the Mustangs the early edge in a top six that is equal in talent and question marks. Unlike 5A and 4A, where there are a few teams that could qualify as loaded, the 3A field will evolve more than in recent seasons. With that kind of potential for parity and the lower number of Metro schools in the postseason, a dark horse or two could ride in from the west or south.
