Style purveyors contemplate where we live as much as what we wear.
Case in point: Ralph Lauren, Todd Oldham and Kate Spade all honed their aesthetic in fashion before staking out major segments of the home furnishings market.
The latest proof that fashion and interior design inhabit closely-related space in the retail world comes in the form of a couture evening gown exhibit organized by the high-end fabric producer Brunschwig & Fils.
Earlier this year, this upholstery and wallpaper company launched “Defining Elegance,” a charity event in which award-winning costume designers from Broadway and Hollywood pillaged the Brunschwig & Fils stock, then used their bounty to conceive elaborate party dresses.
The gowns are currently touring the country before being auctioned off in December at a gala event benefitting The Actors Fund. The Denver Post dropped by the exhibit, which was in town the week of Aug. 23, to take a look.
