AURORA, Colo.—An Aurora city councilwoman is due back in court November 21st for arraignment on an assault charge involving an assistant principal at a high school.

Molly Markert is accused of third-degree assault, harassment, and interference with school staff.

Prosecutors say Markert shoved Smoky Hill High School assistant principal Dean Davis in April as she tried to enter a closed-door graduation meeting that had already begun.

Markert’s arraignment had been scheduled for Friday, but has now been postponed more than two months while her defense team gathers more evidence.

She could face three years in prison and up to $6,500 in fines if convicted on all counts.
