Denver’s Cold Case Unit has linked DNA from a 35-year-old man to the 1990 murder of a woman, police say.

DNA from Corey Bailey, 35, was linked Wednesday to the homicide of Paula Joscsak, who was killed Aug. 6, 1990, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.

Bailey is currently being held in the Denver County Jail on unrelated drug charges, Jackson said.

Joscsak’s body was found on a dock behind a business at 1620 High St. She had been severely beaten behind a business next door and dragged to the dock, where she was sexually assaulted and strangled.

The Cold Case Unit detectives are continuing to investigate and will refer the case to the Denver district attorney’s office for formal charges.
